About Enexis

Enexis is your regional network operator. At Enexis, we know all about hard work and taking responsibility, having distributed energy for more than 100 years, 24/7. We manage the energy network in seven provinces in the North, East and South of the Netherlands. We ensure that energy (electricity and/or gas) finds its way safely from the energy suppliers to your home or premises. In the event of a fault, we will rectify the problem as soon as possible. We are responsible for the connections to around 2.6 million households, businesses and official agencies. What is more, we are constantly working on creating a better, smarter and more efficient grid that is ready for the future. The Enexis energy network is also one of the best in the Netherlands. 

What do we do and what can we do for you? 

Although you cannot buy your gas or electricity directly from Enexis, we ensure that the electricity and gas that you pay for finds its way to your home/business without a hitch. You buy your gas and electricity from one of the numerous suppliers on the market. 

You cannot choose your network operator but you can choose your supplier. The only time that your network operator will change is if you move house to a region where the network is managed by a different company. You are free to choose your own supplier and to enter into a contract with them. If you move house, then you will take your supplier with you. 

You send your meter readings to your network operator once a year. You may receive a meter card from us or one of our meter readers may come out to read your meter. We then pass on those meter readings to your supplier who calculates the costs of your consumption (the amount of gas and electricity you use). If you disagree with the amount you have been charged based on the meter readings, then you can contact your energy supplier regarding this. 

Smart meter 

The smart meter is an electricity and/or gas meter that can be read remotely. Over the next few years, all our customers (consumers and small businesses) will have their current meters replaced by smart meters. We will contact you in good time before coming to replace your meter. At the moment, smart meters are still only being installed in the case of new builds, building connections and large-scale renovations.
